The Sussex Energy Group (SEG) at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) undertakes academically rigorous, inter-disciplinary research that engages with policy-makers and practitioners. The aim of our research is to identify ways of achieving the transition to sustainable, low carbon energy systems whilst addressing other important policy objectives such as energy security. We are based at the University of Sussex and are a core partner in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and are part of the UK Energy Research Centre. SEG is a group of inter-disciplinary researchers focusing upon the transition to sustainable energy systems. We are particularly interested in the processes of technological and social innovation that can bring this about. Our research is problem-driven and encompasses a range of energy policy challenges, including energy access, energy security and the long-term challenge of combatting climate change.
