Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy gained Academy Status in August 2011 and has since seen many exciting opportunities. For some years we have been a high performing school and our outstanding designation has been used as a springboard to go ‘beyond outstanding’. Year on year we continue to attain remarkable results that ensure we remain within the top 10% of schools nationally. In addition, the Church Times rated the school as one of the top ten Church of England schools in the country. The National College of School Leadership appointed our Executive Headteacher Mr Davies a National Leader of Education and the school a National Support School. In March 2012 the NCSL also announced we were to be one of only 200 Teaching Schools in the country. Bishop Rawstorne has also been appointed a School Direct school placing us at the heart of teacher training and we have been awarded the highest number of places in the region. In addition, we have also been licenced by the NCSL as part of the North West Leadership Partnership, the National College’s prestigious leadership programme across the North-West. All of these developments ensure our students are given cutting edge teaching and learning opportunities each and every day and that our staff are given the best professional development opportunities available in the education sector.
