Emerging Africa was born out of a larger telecommunications infrastructure service provider that focused on colocation services, regional broadband services, alternative power and the provision of Rural Telephony services. The notion that underpinned the formation of Emerging Africa as a ‘stand-alone’ entity came from the gaps experienced in the delivery of rural telephony services, with the realization of the need to provide value added services within the rural communities after the provision of telephony service.
