PICT is a renowned and highly esteemed institute Ranked #8 among private engineering institutions in India for excellence in education and research. Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) Robotics Team was founded in 2008. PICT Robotics team takes part in the annual Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), founded in 2002 by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. PICT Robotics aims to enhance the technical skills of the team members as well as gives them exposure to competitions at an international level. Moreover, the team members gain industrial experience in the fields of mechatronics and hardcore coding. Achievements of PICT ROBOTICS: 1. In 2018, Vietnam, as the host country had declared the theme, based on a traditional game “ném còn (throwing shuttlecock) ” • The aim was to have one automatic robot from one team to throw a shuttlecocks pass through the provided rings. • The team that was able to land at least one shuttlecock in the golden cup (Rongbay) was declared as the winner of the game. • We were at 14th rank in India 2. In 2017, Japan, as the host country had declared the theme “ The Landing Disc ” • Teams were given a set of discs which they were supposed to land on the poles of varying heights and distances. • The team that was able to land at least one disc on each pole (Appare) was declared as the winner of the game. • We stood 11th rank in India 3. In 2014, the theme was “ A salute to parenthood ” • We were challenged to make robots which performed tasks of playing see-saw, swing and jungle gym • One of the robots, which was also called as parent robot, had to be manually controlled while the other one, called as a child robot, had to work autonomously. • PICT ROBOCON stood 4th all over India
