INSIDE Lab is one of the outcomes of the LIFE Forture project (LIFE16 ENV/IT/000307), which proposed a pioneering approach to the integration of dynamic assessment tools for environmental and socio-economic sustainability in the manufacturing environment. The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) and the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid (Urjc), are the founders of this open space that is an information platform to disseminate and make known all the activities carried out by members on the issues of sustainability, sustainable development and innovation management. INSIDE Lab’s members are the Departments and Research Groups of the two universities that, with different scientific perspectives, contribute together to the achievement of the goals of the Sustainable Development. Other universities, research centers and companies are also associate members of the lab, forming an informal, multidisciplinary and international working group, able to be competitive for national and European funding calls. Inside Lab’s mission is to advance and inspire innovation for the sustainable development of companies, by cultivating, coordinating (seeking), and communicating multidisciplinary research-based knowledge and its practical application. Inside Lab tries to bridge research, theory, and practice on a wide range of sustainability topics, including: LCA/SLCA, corporates’ social and environmental impact measurement, accountability of sustainability, enhancement of the natural and historical cultural heritage through value chains, circular and innovative business models. Inside Lab is a shared intellectual space where scholars and practitioners publish inter-disciplinary and cross sector research and ideas to advance innovative sustainable development solutions in business realm. The website’s contents are complemented by courses, conferences, webinars and podcasts.
