The 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University is the largest of the Czech medical faculties - over 4,500 students attend it. The basic study programs are general and dentistry, in addition to which the faculty offers studies in other medical fields (addictology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nutritional therapy, general nursing, and midwifery), specialization and lifelong learning, and a number of doctoral programs. Every year, more than 300 new doctors graduate from the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. The faculty is also the most productive institution in biomedical and clinical research. Scientific work, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching take place at 75 theoretical institutes and clinical workplaces common with the General University Hospital, the University Hospital in Motol, the Central Military Hospital, the Thomayer University Hospital, the Bulovka University Hospital, and other interdisciplinary centers. The 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University also participates in the BIOCEV project - the European Scientific Center of Excellence in Biotechnology and Biomedicine - and the Albertov Campus project, focused on the development of excellent scientific and educational activities at Charles University in the field of natural and medical sciences.
