DEDfest
www.dedfest.comFor over a decade, DEDfest has been bringing the most exciting and vibrant action, adventure, science fiction, horrors, thrillers and creature features to fans. Voted Edmonton's Best Film festival by Vue Weekly Magazine three years in a row! (2015-2017) DEDfest is an annual alternative film festival with a mandate – and a mission - to foster the creation of independent genre media content. For a decade now, we’ve given audiences the opportunity to see films that, while playing at major film fests like the Toronto International Film Fest, Fantastic Fest (Montreal) and Fantastic Fest (Austin, TX), would not usually be screened in the capital city. We bring the best in alternative cinema to local audiences. In addition, we have promoted Alberta as a viable filming location for these types of independent films. We also feature local talent, with the hopes of exposing them to a North American-wide audience. With our success in Alberta, we are now looking to expand. Recent editions of our festival in Vancouver and Victoria, and our strong connections with North American filmmakers, producers, and distributors have generated interest in us bringing additional festivals, new film markets, and new opportunities for independent genre filmmakers to reach audiences!
