The recipient of many awards, including national honors from the American Institute of Architects and the AIA Ohio Gold Medal Firm Award, RMA seeks to create an Architecture of complex spatial effects with modest means. What distinguishes the studio is its ability to turn ordinary projects into exceptional architecture. Robert Maschke Architects views project constraints as opportunities for design. Consequently, different versions of “economy” are conceptualized and implemented in RMA's work. Gestures, materials, and atmospheres are investigated for essential qualities; techniques are developed and technologies are deployed, resulting in experimental Architecture honed specifically for each project. Robert Maschke Architects is committed to advancing the practice of Architecture throughout Ohio and beyond. Robert Maschke, FAIA, founded his eponymous firm in 1997 with the belief that a regional practice based in Cleveland, Ohio could contribute to global architectural culture. Many of Maschke's civic, cultural, higher education, and residential projects have contributed to Cleveland's built environment while also being internationally published and recognized. The recipient of many awards, including the Cleveland Arts Prize for design and national honors from the American Institute of Architects, Robert is committed to advancing the practice of architecture while serving the community. Currently, Maschke serves on several civic and cultural boards.
