Hello, my name is Josh Hill. I’m a designer, animator, musician and student of design. I currently attend the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication Design. To say I’m passionate about design would not do it justice, the creative arts are my purpose; compelling me to keep learning and honing my skills. My primary focus is motion design, but I have respect and an understanding of the broader field. My design work is built on a foundation of tried and true design principles. I’ve gained experience designing logos and brand identities for businesses, as well as original art prints that I sell online and in local Cincinnati retailers. Using typography in combination with basic elements, I create simple, structured designs that both communicate and captivate. My passion for film, animation and storytelling has steered my focus towards motion design where I have experience creating tour visuals, broadcast work and branded content. Motion graphics as a medium drives me to script compelling stories that reach people in an entirely new way. Beyond my passion for visual design, I am a musician who loves to perform and write original music. Prior to my studies at DAAP, I had the good fortune of forming and playing in the bands Ellison and The Grey Academy. I believe that the visual side of graphic design is closely connected to the auditory side of music. My approach to motion design seamlessly combines visual and audio to create impactful stories that foster human connections.
