The Sarcoid Research and Education Foundation (www.sarcresearch.com) was established to provide funds to increase research and public awareness of Sarcoidosis, an inflammatory autoimmune disease, at the University of Minnesota's Center for Lung Science and Health. The University is world renowned for its care for individuals with Interstitial Lung Diseases(ILD) such as Sarcoidosis and has achieved national prominence for its basic science research. Sarcoidosis may affect people of any age, race and gender. In addition to the lungs sarcoidosis may affect the eyes, lymph nodes, skin, liver, heart, CNS, and most other organs. There are no known definitive tests for sarcoidosis, the cause is not known, and there is no cure. With increased research discovering the cause, improving treatment and finding a cure may be well within reach.
