The Festival du nouveau cinéma is dedicated to the dissemination and development of new trends in the field of cinema and new media. It offers a springboard for original and largely unseen works, placing emphasis on promoting cinema d’auteur and digital production. For over 40 years, the Festival has annually welcomed Quebec, Canadian and international artists in a convivial atmosphere that prizes public and professional exchange. A major presence within the Canadian cinematic landscape since 1971, the Festival du nouveau cinema has demonstrated with verve its ability to evolve and adapt to cutting-edge audiovisual practices by incorporating the newest technologies of production and presentation into its programming. In so doing, it has garnered much international reknown. The Festival also represents a singular space in which artists and their public explore together the most innovative trends in cinema and new media. Over the course of ten days, film, video, performance, multimedia work, interactive installations as well as other hybrid forms of artistic practice engendered by digital technologies converge at the heart of one single event: the Festival du nouveau cinéma!
