Jens Legarth has worked with liquid feed fermentation for more than two decades, where he experienced that some of the healthiest and most cost-efficient farms used fermented feed. Liquid feed is mostly used in Denmark, whereas dried feed is the most common feed worldwide. Jens wanted to transfer the benefits from wet fermentation and use it in a dried complementary protein-feed in order to offer the same cost effective and health promoting benefits for farmers around the world. In 2011, European Protein started solid-state lactic acid fermentation of plant-proteins. Already in 2012, Jens and his wife Lone decided to build a plant in Jelling, Denmark, that could further develop the protein feed and meet the demand for fermented complementary protein-feed. Since then, European Protein has established factories in both Ukraine and the USA. European Proteins patented production method makes it possible to mix almost any source of plant and animal protein. This way, the company has infinite opportunities to design just the amino acid profile, that fits your animals, while natural enzymes and lactic acid bacteria balances and restores the gut health of the animals.
