The WF Area Food Bank, founded in 1982 was grown out of a need to centralize food procurement and distribution for individuals in need. Thirty three years later, the Food Bank serves a 12 county area, slightly larger than the state of Massachusetts, which covers 10,555 square miles! Over the 2016 fiscal year, we distributed 3.6 million pounds of food (equating to 3.1 million meals) and currently serve over 74,000 individuals annually. The Food Bank runs with over 100 years of combined tenure from 21 employees, of which 9 are program funded.
