Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS)
www.mawss.comMobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) is the preferred water and sanitary sewer service provider for the greater Mobile, Alabama, area. VISION: MAWSS will be a model utility to create and protect resources for future generations. We will lead our industry and provide services to accommodate regional economic development and growth. The drinking water provided by MAWSS comes from Big Creek Lake in northwest Mobile County. We are fortunate to have such an abundant, reliable, clean water source. The water is transported to one of two award-winning plants to be carefully processed, filtered, and delivered efficiently and environmentally friendly to our customers' homes. MAWSS also operates two Wastewater Treatment Plants in Mobile and has been an excellent steward of the environment for its operations and regulatory compliance. To decrease the number of sanitary sewer overflows caused by improper grease disposal, MAWSS launched the "It's Easy To Be Ungreasy" cooking grease recycling campaign. This program encourages customers to pick up free containers at various locations and return them once they are full of used cooking grease. Other current campaigns include the annual "Fun With Water" Watercolor Contest, in which students are encouraged to paint watercolors that represent something they love to do with water. The program's purpose is to emphasize the importance of having clean water and how it affects so much of our daily lives. Along with other MAWSS programs, Willie Water help bring the younger generation to consciousness about conserving our environment - especially water, an essential investment for our future.
