Edukans is an international NGO with headquarters in the Netherlands and country offices in Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda. In Uganda Edukans has been working with other partners since 1994 to contribute to improvement of the quality of basic and vocational education through development of products/programmes with a focus on underprivileged children and unemployed youths. Edukans as a NGO focuses a 100% on education: both basic education as well as vocational education. We believe quality education is achieved not only by focusing on teaching skills, but also through the resilience building of learners, by making school leaders accountable and including parents and community in the process. We call this our STAR school principle and as such our interventions also focuses on the myriad of teachers, learners, school management, school inspectorate and parent groups. The EDU Q-card is a very interesting web based approach that enhances school inspection and supervision. we work with several partners and key stakeholders including the Ministry of Education and Sports, ELECU, Heifer International, Heifer Uganda, AVSI, NRC, War Child Holland, Advance Afrika, ICCO and several District Local governments in Uganda.
