www.fbcorps.orgThe Fort Bend Community Revitalization Projects (Fort Bend CORPS) initiates and coordinates community efforts to revitalize low-income areas in Fort Bend County. A primary component of this effort is delivering home repairs for elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners who are financially and physically unable to make the needed repairs to their homes. All repairs are done free of charge for the homeowner and there is no lien or retention requirement on the property. Repairs are limited to projects that are necessary and that address life, health and safety issues with the goal of restoring safe and decent housing. The CORPS manages five programs to deliver repairs: Hearts & Hammers Program - exterior restoration and painting Roofing Program - roof repair and/or replacement Interior Repair Program - repairs to essential interior living systems Energy Efficiency Program - energy efficiency improvements to maximize electricity savings Barrier Removal Program - repairs that address accessibility for persons with a disability The CORPS locates and qualifies clients, determines the scope of work, recruits volunteer crews for our Hearts & Hammers Program, raises money to buy materials, and contracts with professional tradesman for roof, interior , energy efficiency and barrier removal programs. The CORPS delivers these repairs so that : Homeowners can continue to live comfortably in their homes, difficult living conditions are eliminated and the quality of life is improved.
