Our friendly Station Café is situated in a picturesque early Victorian station house and is located at the main Whitegate Way car park off Clay Lane, Marton, Cheshire. The Station house once served as the halfway point for the old mineral railway line, housing the station master and his family. In its heyday, the railway carried salt from Winsford to Cuddington Junction. The Station opened in 1870, and also carried passengers in its day. The line however closed to passengers in 1931 and closed completely on 4th November 1963. Then in 2015 and after considerable renovation and hard work, we have built the café into a thriving focal point for the local community and users of the Whitegate Way. We are a “not for profit” community organisation and rely heavily on the goodwill of volunteers to run the café, as well as a small number of staff who are also part of our valued team. We are proud to work with The Petty Pool trust in welcoming their students to us for their first work placements. Our aim, as well as being a lovely place to visit, is to give something back to our community, your patronage helps us to do that, and we are very grateful for it. So, although to you it maybe just a cup of tea and a cake, to us it represents much, much more as you are supporting a very worthwhile cause. When you visit us (and we very much hope you will) you will be served by our dedicated team and we offer a delicious range of sandwiches, cakes, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, ice creams and other snacks. Unfortunately, we have had to limit our menu due to the current situation, but you can be assured that the sandwiches and delicious cakes are all fresh.
