“Empowering kids to empower their communities through sports and education.” Somos The Nicaragua Project is an official 501(c)(3) charity operated by a group of dedicated individuals looking to make a difference in as many locations as possible. Each year, donated equipment is shipped down to countries in Central America and used in educational sports camps for underprivileged kids. Alongside the peace corps, we provide education, food, and donate all equipment to the communities and schools after the camps. So, what exactly can you do? Help these kids succeed and help them have fun! Somos The Nicaragua Project is looking for any kind of donations it can get. Across the country, there are too many homes full of decade-old, unused sports gear waiting to be dusted off and reinvigorated with intended functionality. Spend a minute going through those seemingly ancient buckets and shelves and take a look. If there is anything that is in any kind of usable condition that you would not mind parting ways with, what better to do with it then make a child’s day? For equipment donations, we can either set up a date and location to come pick it up ourselves, or we will provide you with a location where you can drop it off. Otherwise, you can help in other ways too. We are always looking to create relationships with anyone who might have access to additional equipment suppliers, storage space, or means of transportation for donated equipment. If you think you can help with anything at all, please do not hesitate to reach out with inquiries and suggestions. If you would prefer, monetary donations will go towards funds for storage space, shipping supplies, transportation, and additional camps/activities for the kids.
