The Energy division began with a vision to power the farm with renewable energy. The team has since grown and started to look at how the farm can achieve true carbon neutrality and even become carbon negative Lapwing Energy are part of BEIS’s Greenhouse Gas Removal programme focusing on removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it back in the geological reserve. This pilot on The Lapwing Estate in the heart of the historic Midlands coal fields can be scaled to generate in excess of 1Mt of CO2 a year contribution towards net zero.
