It is one of the nine specialized public high school located in New York City and operated by the NYC Department of Education. Admission is based on the performance on the standardized examination. Bronx Science is ranked among the top 50 high schools in the United States as well as among the top few in New York State. Seven alumni received the Pulitzer Prize, in addition to eight former students who have received Nobel Prize in science, more than any secondary school in the world.
