Brave Hearts for Strong Minds
www.braveheartsforstrongminds.orgOur mission started in 2012 after a beloved community member, Tom Reilly, suddenly passed away leaving behind his wife and four young children. Tom was a man who gave his all to the community and in his honor, we strive to continue that tradition of care for others. Our logo was inspired by his musical and carpentry skills while also highlighting his generous heart in which he provided for those in need. What makes us unique is our “pay it forward” model that requires all children who receive assistance to pay it forward by fundraising and creating events for future families. Each year these families come back with a bigger and stronger desire to create positive change for others who are going through a similar loss. Children who have lost a parent face immense and lasting emotional and social hurdles. One of the key struggles for families that have lost a loved one is the ability to provide for the children’s education. Reflecting on Tom’s compassion and friendship, our organization came up with a way to provide opportunities for children in need. BHSM is a 501c3 approved organization (EIN 45-3973220) that provides college education funding for children who have lost a parent.
