Smith & Newton Architects

Smith & Newton Architects are a London based architectural design studio. They provide a full architectural design service across a range of building sectors. The founding partners; Christopher Smith & Dale Newton, met as students in Manchester. They subsequently worked for a number of prestigious UK practices, before a series of collaborations led them to establish Smith & Newton Architects. They take great pride in approaching and exploring each project individually. Without governance or prejudice to style and architectural trends, they carefully and appropriately, design unique architectural solutions that draw on their collective experience to mitigate risk and drive efficiency. Their design ethos is one of pairing a strong physical form with a considered understanding of function. They revel in applying these skills to new buildings as well as renovation to those already existing. Environmental and social responsibility governs their innovative approach to creatively and sympathetically recycle jettisoned buildings and reuse materials wherever possible. Environmentally responsive designs – making best use of available light and prevailing weather conditions – are carefully considered as contextual; urban, suburban or rural discrete objects that relate to their environment, neighbourhood and history. Their clients and end users are the focal point to their efforts, and they recognise that as architects they form an important component part of the construction whole. Knowing where their strengths lie, and wherever necessary drawing on their extensive network of construction professionals to compliment and support projects. To work most effectively and efficiently with clients time and money to better deliver dynamic, joyful, reliable design solutions.
