The Center of Excellence in Energy and Power Systems (CEESP) is a group of research based at the Federal University of Technology Center of Santa Maria (CT-UFSM) and registered in the CNPq Directory Groups. Currently, performance and team research areas are concentrated in three areas: generation, transmission and distribution of energy. Within the generation, if they search for alternative forms of distributed electric power generation using fuel cells, photovoltaic, geothermal energy, utilization of municipal solid waste (MSW) digestion and combined with the energy storage. In power transmission are carried out research in the areas of stability, protection, identifying faults, modeling and optimization of electric power systems. In power distribution shaft searches are performed within the smart grid and its potential for supervision and control in distribution systems, including real-time operation, reconfiguration of networks, modeling and optimization of distribution systems, parallel processing systems multi-agent, cloud programming, management of distributed generation, microgerações and microgrids, energy efficiency, demand side management and demand response.
