atlanta.itamaraty.gov.brThe Consulate General of Brazil in Atlanta is an office of the Brazilian Government responsible for offering, in accordance with domestic and international law, certain public services in its area of jurisdiction (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee). It reports to the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Brazil. The Ministry also mantains other consulates in the U.S., in addition to the Brazilian Embassy in Washington and the Permanent Missions of Brazil to the OAS and to the U.N. The services offered include the protection of the interests of Brazil and of its nationals, the development of Brazil's economic, commercial and cultural relations with the area of jurisdiction, issuing passports to Brazilians and visas to foreigners, keeping vital records of births, marriage and deaths of Brazilian citizens, and other notarial services, among others. The Consulate General is composed of different sections, such as the Administrative Section, the Consular Section, the Cultural Section, the Educational Section, the Trade Promotion Section and the Community Relations Section.
