Global Opportunities Center

We don’t live in the same world we did yesterday – our citizens must be prepared to compete and lead in a global environment. In 2012, The Global Opportunities (GO) Center began as one of the most expansive public-private partnerships in Greensboro’s history, when leaders from all seven higher education institutions, businesses, government, nonprofits and foundations convened to create a vision to catalyze global entrepreneurship in Greensboro. This work culminated in plans for a GO Center that would converge, exchange and innovate. In 2015, the GO Center’s innovative concept was rewarded a $500,000 first place prize in the Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Economic Development Challenge sponsored by the US EDA through the City of Greensboro. With this momentum, the GO Center launched as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create a premiere center in the US that creatively brings together commerce, education and government to expand global opportunities for economic and community development. We will serve as a regional global hub, leveraging our existing assets in the Triad: - 300 foreign-owned companies - 2,100 organizations with export potential - 70,000 college students - Diverse immigrant and refugee populations
