IBR Fire
www.ibrfire.co.zaDesign, Supply & Maintenance of Fire Fighting Appliances with a strong emphasis on "Compliance". Associated with all industry organizations both statutory and voluntary. We were there when the legislators made the decision to amend the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations addressing fire extinguishers by incorporating them into the Vessel Under Pressure Regulations. The result is that any company employing the persons performing maintenance on fire extinguishers must hold SABS 1475 Mark and their technicians shall be registered as Competent Persons with the SAQCC (Fire). We were a part of the founding group of individuals who established the SAQCC (Fire) in order to define the skills required to safely and effectively perform maintenance work that satisfies the manufacturer's design specifications. Today, customers have the comfort of knowing that their equipment is maintained by a Registered Competent Person whose registration may come into question should their actions deviate from the requirements. The committee of the SAQCC (Fire) may investigate the actions of their registered competent persons and withdraw registration but they may not interfere with commercial issues such as prices or bad business practices such as charging for spares never used. We were at the technical committees writing the numerous SABS Codes and Standards associated with our industry. SANS 1475-1/2 requires all service companies to maintain records of all the equipment serviced by their technicians. SANS 10105 makes it a legal requirement for the customers (Users) to be in possession of maintenance records of their fire fighting equipment as does the Vessels under Pressure Regulations in order to satisfy any enquiry by the Chief Inspector.
