LAND+OBJECT
www.landobject.comLAND+OBJECT is a female-led and Native American owned sustainable design company based in Santa Fe, NM on Tewa land. My name is Sheyenne and I’m a 26 year old Diné entrepreneur and the founder of LAND+OBJECT. LAND+OBJECT is a direct reflection of my travels, Diné heritage, and spiritual beliefs. Interpreting cultural wisdom to understand my role in the modern era is central to my creative practice. Living symbiotically with the natural environment has been integral to human survival and belief systems around the world. The industrial revolution and resulting modern linear economy have created a system where limited resources become low-quality products that eventually become unusable waste. Rather than viewing ourselves as separate from the environment, our actions can honor our role within the natural systems we live in. In this way, there can be a sense of reciprocity and of collaboration with environmental cycles. LAND+OBJECT’s first collection of cold-weather accessories is made in collaboration with artisans I met while living in Mongolia. This collection invites customers to participate in a shared cultural narrative between Mongolian and Diné people surrounding the raising of livestock, and creation of natural fiber goods for trade.
