Economic Growth DC
www.economicgrowthdc.orgThe DC Economic Growth Action Fund, more commonly known as Economic Growth DC, is a non-partisan, non-profit economic policy organization focused on the District of Columbia and its economy. It's incorporated in the District of Columbia under Title 29, Chapter 4 of the DC code, and is organized within the meaning of section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Economic Growth DC operates as a social welfare organization dedicated to promoting the common good and the general welfare of the residents of the District of Columbia through a robust and dynamic economy. Our mission is to catalyze an acceleration in the rate of growth of the economy of the District of Columbia and ensure its permanence. We strive to make the District a better, easier and less expensive place to do business — a place existing businesses relocate to in order to take advantage of our highly educated workforce and where entrepreneurs come to follow their dreams. Economic Growth DC facilitates the conditions that foster faster growth by engaging primarily in three activities: 1) Advocating before all elements of the government of the District of Columbia in favor of legislation, regulation and policy that fosters faster economic growth; 2) Supporting local and neighborhood business associations, business improvement districts, economic development corporations, civic associations and other civic groups dedicated to making the District a better place to do business; and 3) Supporting pro-growth candidates for elective office in the District of Columbia. The District’s economy has grown at a real average rate of 1.28% since 2007 according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. This rate of growth is not fast to enough to meet the District’s needs in the areas of unemployment, poverty, homelessness and affordable housing. To fully fund these priorities, economic growth must accelerate significantly.
