The Pacific GIS and Remote Sensing Conference is convening for the first time a combined conference with Open Source Geospatial (OSGeo) Foundation and OpenStreetMap Foundation’s regional conference "FOSS4G SoTM Oceania". We are pleased to introduce this year's conference as "The Pacific Geospatial Conference". The week-long event, features four days of over 60 presentations with Day 4 including discussion sessions and Day 5 for workshops conducted by spatial industry experts from the region and across the world. This year theme is on the “Use of Digital Platforms, GIS and Remote Sensing to anticipate and manage the impacts of Global Warming “. The Pacific Geospatial Conference is reputably the largest opportunity for Pacific Island Users and our network of regional and international stakeholders to share experiences and advance knowledge in developing a The Pacific GIS & RS Council (PGRSC) is a formally established and recognized entity within the Pacific region that have 5 main objectives written within its constitution: The constitution states 5 objectives of the council: *To promote the development of GIS and Remote Sensing (RS) data, technologies, methods and services for the pacific region; *To enable collaboration and share lessons learnt across regional agencies and commercial parties; *To discuss and establish methods in building adaptation for the Pacific environment for solutions working already well outside the region; *To manage the distribution, publication and awareness of conference outcomes; *To establish robust links with other GIS, RS and scientific bodies regionally and globally. The Council seeks to grow the Geospatial Industry within the Pacific and hopes to be the focal point between organisations, established professionals and a growing industry of young experts.
