Giering Metal Finishing, Inc. was established in the late 1930s as George Giering II hand-painted dental chairs with a brush in his spare time while working at Eli Whitney Gun Factory. When World War II erupted, he evolved into electrostatic finishing processes, applying armed forces coatings. Incorporated in 1954, Giering Metal Finishing, Inc. had spread its reputation to manufacturing companies throughout the Northeastern United States. By the 1960s, Giering Metal Finishing, Inc. expanded its surface finishing services, offering degreasing, pretreatments, plating, anodizing, hand spray, and automated finishing. George Giering, III took over in 1969, integrating both powder coating and electrocoating technologies by the early 1980s. In 2001, George Giering, IV joined the company as a third-generation Giering.
