Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA), certified with ISO 9001:2008, is one of the premier textile research institute in the country. The textile industry and Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India jointly established NITRA in 1974 for conducting applied scientific research and providing support services to Indian textile industry. The organization is situated at NCR Ghaziabad, near national capital New Delhi. It is spread over a huge lush green campus with 50 acre area. Today NITRA’s prime activities include research & development, technical consultancy, quality evaluation of materials, manpower training and publishing technical books and papers. NITRA Technical Campus (NTC) is the academic wing of NITRA, established with a view to groom youngsters to become corporate professionals for the textile, apparel, fashion, retail and IT sectors. The campus offers AICTE approved two UG programs - B. Tech in Textile Technology and Computer Science & Engineering. Besides the above programs, NTC also offers more than 100 programs under Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) for the textile and apparel sector at its Ghaziabad campus, and seven powerloom service centres located at Meerut, Tanda, Kanpur, Gorakhapur (all in UP), Panipat (Haryana), Ludhiana (Punjab) and Bhilwara (Rajasthan). In addition to these centres, it also offers training programs at the sites as per the requirement of the factories.
