Bioinformatics Institute is a non-governmental non-commercial bioinformatics research and educational institution supported by JetBrains, Inc. It was created in 2010 in St. Petersburg Russia. Currently the Institute is in a process of relocation to Boston, USA and other regions. Our mission is to popularize bioinformatics and educate a new generation of highly skilled professionals. The purpose of Institute's educational programs is to acquaint students with the main objectives and methods of bioinformatics as well as open problems related to this science. Our programs are mainly focused on graduate students and young professionals with mathematical, IT and biological specialties who are interested in bioinformatics. Regular programs: - Algorithmic Bioinformatics - Bioinformatics for Biologists - Biostatistics - Bioinformatics Summer School - Workshops on NGS data analysis, biomedical statistics, and systems biology The Institute's Research Devision was launched in 2015. Our research group currently focuses on using large-scale genetic datasets to solve complex basic and applied problems in systems biology and medicine. We run our own research projects and participate in research efforts of other labs.
