Siway’s software, hardware and know-how provide free and low-cost Internet access to more than 5,000 people every day. Our networks cover low-income housing units, universities, and public spaces like parks, libraries and bus stations. We manage more than 300 wireless access points throughout 5 states in Mexico. Our software allows for easy management, maintenance, billing and customization of our networks. We specialize in network design, management and deployment as well as software development for the cloud. We also provide IT consulting services for video surveillance, VoIP and business management. Our platform to manage restaurants turned out to be good enough for managing larger networks so we launched our first municipal network with Miguel Hidalgo municipality in 2008. Puebla and Tlaxcala municipalities followed in 2009. In 2010 we became a WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) for low-income housing units in Mexico. Awards 2008 – PROSOFT, a government fund for software start-ups, awarded Siway with $1,000,000 MX (About $80,000 USD). 2009 – Our network with the Puebla municipality won first price in the VI Prize for Iberoamerican Digital Cities (Spanish) ahead of cities in Spain, Colombia and Argentina. 2010 – Our project Internet para Todos won $750,000 MX (About $60,000 USD) and scored 26th place in the Iniciativa Mexico 2010 (Spanish), a contest for social entrepreneurship with more than 47,000 projects.
