Judicial Review Link

www.jrlink.org

There is growing demand for pro bono legal assistance among asylum seekers who are seeking judicial review of negative refugee determinations. Asylum seekers are often reliant on the services of pro bono lawyers to access justice. While there is strong sentiment across the sector to help, it is critical that lawyers get the skills and expertise needed to undertake this work. Judicial Review Link — JRLink — is an online platform providing solicitors anywhere in Australia with the free training and resources that they need to assist asylum seekers pro bono. Since October 2017, training materials developed by JRLink and the Legacy Caseload Working Group have educated more than 300 Australian solicitors in how to run judicial review cases for asylum seekers. Lawyers can access template documents to assist with merits assessments and running judicial review cases. Lawyers and organisations who are currently providing pro bono assistance to asylum seekers in Australia, or are interested in doing so, are encouraged to register now for JRLink's Pro Bono Judicial Review Training — it can be accessed from anywhere. It features free training, template materials and other content in an interactive format to enhance your learning experience, and in-person workshops led by leading solicitors and barristers.
