Most of these artisans both men & women have been living in abject poverty and working as daily wage labours in and around the footwear making hubs or have migrated to other parts of India in search of livelihood. Kaarigar Mandi is a B2B marketplace for complete supply chain of footwear industry. Kaarigar Mandi engages both men and women of the shoemaking artisan families at various stages of shoemaking and provides consistent shoemaking orders thereby providing livelihood opportunities by doing what they know best. Kaarigar Mandi provides a 360-degree support to footwear artisans to help them develop their cottage and micro-enterprises. The support includes access to raw material, hand tools and small machines required for shoemaking, consistent shoemaking orders and financial support in the form of easy and low cost credit to manage the cash flow. We also consistently try to bring the artisans close to the latest technology by providing them required training in latest footwear trends and techniques and by connecting them to internet technology. Kaarigar Mandi was started under Shoegaro Fashions Private Limited. The company Shoegaro Fashions Private Limited, established in July 2019, is social business conceptualised to preserve the dying art of handmade shoemaking, with the aim to engage artisan families who have carried forward the traditional art of handmade shoemaking.
