By combining policy expertise with ever more novel ways to acquire, enrich, and analyse information, we have become the trusted, impartial source for many who need to know what governments are really doing to global commerce. As well as nurturing a pioneering team capable of adapting quickly to our unsettled world, we engage with individuals and organisations that respect our independence and share our core objectives and values, including ensuring that the millennium-old human imperative to trade remains a force for good as societies tackle the pressing challenges of the 21st century. The St.Gallen Endowment for Prosperity through Trade (SGEPT) pursues the goal of prosperity, freedom and peace between nations, promoted by undistorted, cross-border economic activity in all its forms. As necessary conditions for this goal, this Foundation promotes the principles of predictability, transparency and equal treatment of all parties involved in international economic activity. In support of these conditions, the Foundation aims to be the world's first reference point for information and expertise on industrial policy. SGEPT is a charitable foundation under Swiss law and was launched with the generous support of the University of St.Gallen, the Max Schmidheiny Foundation and Prof. Simon Evenett in late 2020. Its main initiative to date is the Global Trade Alert.
