Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of Defence and the City of Düsseldorf, was awarded the contract for the Invictus Games in January 2020. One of the main objectives of this international competition is to give soldiers (both active and veteran) who are wounded, injured or ill in the soul and/or body a better perception and greater recognition in society. Germany expects around 500 competitors from over 22 countries and around 1,000 accompanying "Families & Friends" in 2023. The "Invictus Games Park" will be created as the venue for the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023, the central point of which will be the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf. The Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 are currently planned over a period of one week for the summer of the year, an exact date will be announced later.
