The Foundation for Montessori Education (FME) is the only AMI Montessori Teacher Training Centre in Eastern Canada. The training centre offers the AMI Primary (3-6) Course, the AMI Orientation (3-6) Course, Refresher Courses, as well as events for its community members. The Foundation is very proud of its legacy with the Montessori family. Dr. Montessori’s son, Mario Montessori, inaugurated the first AMI Montessori Teacher Training Centre in Toronto, Canada in 1971. Toronto’s strong connection to the Montessori family was maintained when Renilde Montessori, Dr. Montessori’s youngest granddaughter, founded the FME in 1989. The Foundation is incorporated as a not-for-profit charitable organization, with the primary purpose of promoting Montessori education based on the work of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Foundation is also a registered Private Career College in Ontario.
