ShowDesk /
www.showdesk.itShowDesk is an innovative project created in 2009 by the Sottobosco Collective, its aim being to offer opportunities to young emerging artists to meet and present their work in public. Conceived as a “nomadic device”, the project was hosted in several Italian cities including Genoa, Venice, Milan and Rome. The ShowDesk format allows artists to meet in an informal setting where they can discuss and debate issues related to their personal Poetics and Art in general. A sense of selflessness and the spirit of sharing and cooperation are the founding principles of this open source project. In 2016, the values underlying the ShowDesk Initiative have become the inspiration for a manifesto proposing Naples as an ideal city for hosting an annual event for young artists, students, curators, gallery owners and art lovers. Today ShowDesk, besides being a platform for an exchange of views, represents as well an independent organization (founded as a spinoff from the Sottobosco project), which offers residency to artists, and a social engine that highlights the designing of projects, making this the first tool of development and cultural growth. As part of the programs promoted by the European Union, ShowDesk aims to: – disseminate studies, research and information material, (both in print and in electronic form) in order to make people aware of the problems related to the projects.) – promote and implement devices useful to the multimedia communication of the results of the project. – support partners through documentation and visual empowerment, thus contributing to the management of the cultural content deriving from the projects. – manage the production of catalogs, reports, and installations through visual design activities. – offer support to cultural organizations promoting, organizing and carrying out meetings, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, displays and events which promote the attainment of project objectives.
