Office Baroque
www.officebaroque.comOffice Baroque is a contemporary art gallery that was incorporated in Antwerp in 2007. The gallery represents both emerging and more established European and American artists. From 2008 thru 2013, the gallery occupied a storefront on Lange Kievitstraat in Antwerp. With its move to the heart of Downtown Brussels in November 2013 the gallery will provide scope for a more ambitious and diverse program of exhibitions. The Brussels gallery will extend across the ground floor of a 1909 cast iron building by the Brussels architect Paul Hamesse who was part of the Art Nouveau generation. Formerly a brewery, the building has been transformed into an expansive and minimal interior flooded by natural light. Macken & Boeckx' transformation of the quintessential Brussels building remains faithful to the monumental dimensions and the aesthetics of the architecture. Office Baroque is named after one of Gordon Matta-Clark’s last remaining public interventions, untimely demolished after extensive protests in Antwerp in 1980.
