EU NAVFOR - Operation ATALANTA is the European Union's first ever Naval Force. The operation was established by the EU in response to increamsed acts of piracy in the Horn of Africa and evolves into a Regional Maritime Security Provider in the Western Indian Ocean. The maritime component operates in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, with the Operational Headquarters based in Rota, Spain
