The University of Michigan Chinese Students and Scholars Association is a non-political non-profit association of, by, and for Chinese students, scholars and any one who is in support of the interest of the Chinese community at the University of Michigan. The missions of CSSA includes community service, culture exchange and campus diversity enrichment. CSSA is the abbreviation for Chinese Scholars and Students Association, one of the most well-known non-profitable Chinese Student Organizations, with branches in a number of prestigious universities in the Unites States. University of Michigan CSSA (UMCSSA) is the only U of M international Chinese student organization recognized by Consulate-General of People’s Republic of China in Chicago. UMCSSA is founded in 1980s with currently more than 80 active members in seven different departments. Each department has its own distinctive responsibilities, ensuring the various functionalities in organization. The members come across the campus with different majors and talents, all serving for the wellbeing of Chinese students and scholars in the University of Michigan and in local Chinese community.
