World Hijab Day Organization
www.worldhijabday.comWorld Hijab Day Organization (WHD) is a registered 501(c) 3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Our mission is to combat bigotry, discrimination and prejudice against Muslim women through awareness, education and empowerment. This is most crucial in these trying times of mistrust and polarization where Muslim women are being targeted and harassed verbally and/or physically due to their hijab (head covering). According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), 69% of women who wore the hijab reported at least one incident of discrimination compared to 29% of women who did not wear the hijab. In pursuit of our mission, WHD raises awareness through Online educational publications, talk show, seminars and various activities such as the annual global event called, "World Hijab Day," which invites people of all races and faiths to wear hijab for a day in solidarity with Muslim women around the world. This event is commemorated in over 150 countries in both public and private sectors for example, educational, business, religious, health and political sectors. WHD is also proud to have founded “Fast For Unity” and “International Muslim History Month,” to foster a greater understanding of the Muslim faith. WHD strives to achieve its goal to unite diverse communities around the world under the banner of tolerance and understanding through awareness, education, and empowerment. With the reach of over 150 countries, WHD is positioned to make a global impact on turning the tide against bigotry and prejudice, and shift it toward a more tolerant and accepting global community.
