Transborder Educators is a registered, independent not-for-profit organization headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, committed to changing higher education around the world. Founded in 2011 by individuals with a passion for education and with backgrounds as diverse as Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Geophysics, Medicine and International Development. Transborder Educators (TBE) hopes to serve as a virtual exchange, a nexus between academics and students in the developed and developing world in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) using interactive web-based and mobile technologies. We run our own virtual data center in the cloud with dedicated video conferencing servers and Moodle servers for the learning management interface which provides the IT infrastructure to support our operations. We aim for our organization to be a virtual exchange that facilitates collaboration, interaction and knowledge diffusion between academics and students in developed countries and their counterparts in the developing world.
