For most of us, it’s a sad truth: No one has systematically trained us to speak effectively under pressure. Research has shown that the most common form of abuse in our culture is not physical, but rather verbal abuse (Bowen and Holcom, 2010; Cross et al., 2009; Rigby and Johnson, 2016; Wong et al., 2008). Social Kung Fu offers a new generation of verbal training that works when people are under pressure. It provides a set of techniques and principles that aim to equip youth with personal protection, improve their self esteem and become better communicators in their schools, workplaces and homes. We’ve all heard the phrase “if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”. The reality is that as a parent you can’t defend your child against bullies. Rather than depending on the school to stop the bullying, or taking your kid out of school all together which mind you many parents resort to when bullying gets bad, Social Kung Fu is all about teaching your child how to “fish”, or rather, how to defend themself in any situation of conflict for the rest of their life.
