The factory is a Halaal manufacturer of pies, biscuits, doughnuts, confectionery and muffins. It also distributes samoosas, rusks and rooti bases. Grandy Pies supplies to cash customers and national catering companies (including Feedem Pitseng, Compass Group, Universal Hospitality Services, C3 Food Services and Royal Mnandi). The delivery area includes the Cape Peninsula, Stellenbosch and Paarl. The Grandy Pies factory was co-founded in October 1996 by current owner, Andrew Boynton. Andrew is an English chartered accountant who immigrated to South Africa in December 1995. Grandy Pies is an Exempted Micro Enterprise for B-BBEE purposes. The company is supervised for Halaal purposes by the Islamic Council of South Africa (Certificate number 1156). As part of its quality assurance program, the Grandy Pies factory is subject to independent quarterly hygiene inspections undertaken by Swift Silliker. The factory shop is open to the public Monday-Friday 07H00-16H30.
