www.british-business-bank.co.ukCfEL was created in 2008 to be the UK Government’s centre of knowledge, expertise and information on the design, implementation and management of finance measures to support Small and Medium Size enterprises (‘SMEs’) across the UK. It:- - committed Around £1 billion to venture and loan funds - the largest single investor in UK venture capital funds - supported some £2bn in loans to small businesses arranged or available through its guarantee programmes. Together with the private sector money, these represented more than £6.5 billion in finance to SMEs. In October 2013, CfEL became a core of the new British Business Bank, representing a significant endorsement of its success. Significant new funding has been provided.
