CDH UK is a UK registered Charity which supports anyone who is affected by Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) including Medical Professionals. As the first and largest CDH charity to be founded in the UK, we offer many services to our families and further information can be found on our website or by contacting us. Through this page, our supportline, online forums and our website we reach out to families and Clinicians and provide information and advice to others affected by CDH. We actively fundraise to continue to provide support and advice to families and to fund new services and research. We also raise awareness of the condition & promote research & study into the cause, prevention & treatments of CDH. Registered in England & Wales 1106065 & Scotland SC042410 Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is a birth defect that occurs when the diaphragm does not fully form, allowing abdominal organs to enter the chest cavity, and affecting lung growth. CDH affects 1 in approx. 2500 babies. The cause is not yet known. 50% of these babies may not survive and sometimes the remaining 50% have to overcome very difficult medical complications. CDH can occur alone or with other birth defects, and, rarely, it occurs as part of a syndrome. Every case is different; there is no way to predict the outcome of any patient 100%. www.cdhuk.org.uk
