MPPI is responsible for handling membership applications and services, and is responsible for the enforcement of the Code of Professional Conduct. MPPI sponsors workshops and seminars for the purpose of informing the membership of relevant developments and issues in the planning field and to provide networking and information sharing opportunities for our members. The Association also emphasizes liaison with planning students, particularly those enrolled in the University of Manitoba’s Department of City Planning, and is responsible for periodic review of this program in context of national membership standards and requirements. Working on behalf of our members and the planning profession, MPPI endeavors to: maintain national standards for city and land use planning; influence legislation, policies and decisions affecting planning and planners; create a positive image and develop a strong profile for planning; expand knowledge in the field of planning; and advance planning education and liaise with planning faculty and students. MPPI is the Manitoba affiliate of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). CIP’s mission is "To advance and raise the profile of Canadian professional planning, for our members in Canada and abroad, through leadership, advocacy, expertise, and education.”
