MEMO 98
www.memo98.skMEMO 98 is an internationally-recognized, independent and non-profit specialist media monitoring organization with 21 year-long experience of conducting media monitoring, research and assisting civil society groups and media regulators. Using tested and approved methodologies and tools, we are best known for our media analysis and media monitoring during elections. Having participated in a number of election observation missions in more than 50 countries and more conducting media & election-related projects, our experts provide advice and assistance on media & electoral and other democratic arrangements. We make recommendations to both the public and policy makers on media & election legislation, international standards concerning the media and the electoral process and democratic governance. Our methodology of media monitoring originates from the journalism school of the Columbia University, with initial training provided to us thanks to the support from the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. The methodology has been proven, tested and enhanced by our experts in a number of countries of Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. Given its comprehensive qualitative & quantitative aspects with content-oriented approach, it is specially designed to provide in-depth feedback on pluralism and diversity in media reporting, including coverage of chosen subjects/themes As such, the outcome of our monitoring is not a set of empty and superficial data, but a detailed analysis and evaluation of the media coverage, examined in the proper context. Our consultants design and implement media monitoring projects tailored to a specific organization’s capacity and the prevailing political environment and train its staff in media monitoring to establish an indigenous media monitoring capacity. In applying internationally accepted methods for media monitoring, we provide impartial information about the nature of the media environment.
